  • Requirements

    Plant room refit
  • Objective

    Replace inefficient boilers and pumps

We were asked to provide a cost for a refit of the plant room supplying heat to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit at the Hutton based Headquarters.
Successful in competitive tender, we were awarded the contract to complete the works.

Outgoing boilers
The 3 existing boilers were inefficient by modern standards, and beyond their serviceable life from a spare parts perspective.

Removing the boilers
The boilers were stripped down to individual sections to facilitate removal from the plant room.

Pumps
As part of the project, new and efficient inverter-driven pumps were installed to further reduce the carbon footprint of the site and lower running costs.

The finished job
With the old boilers, flues, associated pipework etc. removed, the new boiler occupies a fraction of the available space.
Introduction of a plate heat exchanger ensures that the new boiler is hydraulically isolated from the existing pipework and heat emitters.

Results

With the project now completed and commissioned, the Vehicle Maintenance Unit at Hutton headquarters now enjoys:

  • An energy efficient installation
  • Improved reliability
  • Lower carbon footprint

Oh, and let’s not forget all the freed-up space that is now available for other plant/equipment, or just simply for storage.

This was a great job for us, completed on-time, and in budget.
